The IECP: High quality academic English preparation

For more than 40 years, the IECP at Penn State has been welcoming students like you. IECP courses focus on preparing students to enter degree programs at U.S. universities through instruction in English language and academic skills. IECP teachers are faculty in the College of the Liberal Arts, Department of Applied Linguistics and have earned their master’s degree and have significant academic English teaching experience in the U.S. and overseas. In addition, the IECP provides supports students throughout their studies via the Student Center, which provides tutoring, workshops, activities, and other language-support services.

The IECP is among an elite group of programs worldwide that are accredited by the  Commission on English Language Program Accreditation. The IECP also is a member of English USA, the American Association of Intensive English Programs, as well as UCIEP, the University and College Intensive English Program Consortium.

Undergraduate and Graduate Programs of Study

When you study English at the IECP, your classes help to prepare you for studies at Penn State or other English-medium universities. The IECP also offers Certification for qualified students to meet Penn State’s English Proficiency Requirement.

The IECP is a part of Penn State’s flagship campus, University Park, which is located in State College, Pennsylvania.
