Since 1976, the IECP has been Penn State’s premier intensive English program, offering courses in academic English to prepare the pre-matriculated student for undergraduate and graduate studies at an American university. Experienced faculty engage students in a cutting-edge, comprehensive curriculum which includes grammar, oral communication, listening, reading, writing, and test skills in addition to providing opportunities to connect with current Penn State students and classes.
- Researchers receive $7 million grant to develop deeper crop roots On Jan 13, 2017 Researchers in Penn State's College of Agricultural Sciences have received a $7 million grant to design a low-cost, integrated system that can identify and screen for high-yielding, deeper-rooted crops. The interdisciplinary team will combine a suite of technologies designed to identify phenotypes and genes related to desirable root traits, with the goal of enhancing the breeding of crop varieties better adapted for nitrogen and water acquisition and carbon sequestration.
- Annual report examines state of college student mental heath On Jan 12, 2017 Despite increased demand for counseling centers on college campuses, students aren’t necessarily getting sicker. Instead, it’s likely student mental health needs across the country have increased due to national prevention and awareness efforts over the past decade. University counseling centers also have experienced operational changes over the last six years. They are providing 28 percent more “rapid-access” service hours per client and 7.6 percent fewer “routine” service hours per client.
